Lance first found the boat in December 2018 in Portland Marina in a dilapidated state.
He then set about bringing the boat back to a sailable condition and then putting her through all the coding and safety inspections. It took 6 months of hard work to get ready for the 2019 season.
Meanwhile, Claire started working on all the berthing, bookings, insurance, race entries, schedules and between us we were ready to launch in May 2019.
The season went extremely well and culminated in the iconic Fastnet race which we completed in 2 days and 11 hours. We then took the boat south to compete in the Rolex Middle Sea Race in Malta. Next, we went over the Atlantic to the Caribbean for the RORC Caribean 600 and the Heineken Regatta.
Between the racing, we have had many wonderful trips, from day experiences to 5-day mile builders, all with fantastic clients who are just as invested in this amazing boat as we are.
9 months into starting our business the dreaded Covid hit. Our guests and crew were unable to join us in the Caribbean, so Claire, Lance and 10 people who were stranded in Antigua brought Telefonica Black back to the UK to wait out the pandemic.
Everything is now back on track and we are working hard to keep the business and boat running. Every profit from trips go straight back into the boat to improve her and hopefully allow us to keep providing the service and experiences we offer.
We would like to thank all our clients for their support through a very difficult time for our industry and we look forward to welcoming you onboard soon.
